Teen Mom 2

Who else is excited for season 2 of Teen Mom!  Some of these stories look like train wrecks but others look adorable!  I recently read on Perez Hilton that one of the teen mom's, Jenelle, just got arrested for breaking and entering and possession of marijuana/paraphernalia.  Also, according to Starcasm.net, Jenelle supposedly admitted to smoking pot while pregnant with son Jace.  I can't even believe that, it makes my blood boil!  She definitely will give Amber Portwood a run for her money.  Are you all tuning in?

Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animals...And A Happy New Year!

Happy 2011 Everyone!  I know it's been almost 2 weeks since the new year but I haven't had time to blog at all!  I hope you all had a fabulous New Years and rang in 2011 in style!  I myself went to Schoolyard Tavern, a bar in downtown Chicago and had a great time!  It was also my sister's 27th birthday, so the fam. and I went downtown to her apartment and celebrated at a bar in Wrigleyville.  It is called Guthrie's and is super cute.  There's a whole bookshelf full of board games and everyone is at tables drinking and playing!  I also had my first taco pizza at Ian's, also in Wrigleyville.  This pizza place is definitely more of a "modern" place, as it serves pizza's such as macaroni and cheese, chicken and penne, pesto and tomato, and barbeque chicken.  My dad was not a fan, but I loveeeed the taco pizza.  I'm definitely paying for it now...Jillian Miachel's 30 day shred is whipping my butt!

On another note, I go back to school in less than a week!  It's officially my last semester of undergrad :(  I feel so incredibly old and it is definitely a bitter sweet feeling.  On one hand it is so awesome that I will officially have my bachelor's degree in psychology and be able to go out in the "real world" and start making some real money, but on the other hand I'm going to miss not having any responsibilities other than going to school.  I will still be a student as I am going to attend grad school, but It definitely will not be like undergrad where you can get away with not going to class when your too hungover, drinking multiple times throughout the week, eating ramen noodles to afford bar money, and basically binge drinking all weekend.  But I will get to live in the city, and am planning on living with my big seeester.  I cannot wait to live in the city...living at home when your a college student is kind of awkward.  You come home at all hours of the night after going out with your friends, you have to keep your room clean, you have to pretend like your not hungover.  Too many rules!

Anyways, this weekend I was downtown and it was so much fun!  My friends and I took a party bus down from the suburbs to Lions Head with a bunch of people from my highschool.  I wore an Express dress, Nordstrom blazer, Francesca's necklace and Naughty Monkey ankle boots with tights of course.

It was a lot of fun!  The bus then picks you up at bar close and drives you back to the suburbs, and it was only $20.00 a person.  I think it was called Windy City Shuttle but I could be mistaken.  The next night my friend Sara and I drove to our friend Ryane's apartment in the city.  Her building is right on State Street so it has a beautiful view of the city and probably the BEST deep dish pizza right next to her building.  It gives Lou Malnatti's a run for it's money!  We went to Dillinger's Bar and Grill, which Sara's Aunt co-owns and we definitely were all over served!  It was a fun night though and always have a good time going there!  Pictures to come :)

What did you all do this weekend?

But What Will I Wear?!!

If your anything like me, you haven't gotten your New Years Eve dress yet.  For some reason I always wait until the last minute to get my dress and accessories, what can I say I work best under pressure!  Anyways, this year I really wanted to wear black lacy tights and based everything off of that.  I also really wanted to have a reddish lip...not anything too crazy but just a little color to add some spice!  Therefore, I decided on a black dress from Asos with ruffley sleeves. If you're wearing lacy tights, you need to keep the dress fairly simple, but you definitely can add a pop of color (for me it's going to be red) to accessorize!  Here is my outfit to ring in 2011:

Outfit:  Dress-Asos Sculpted Sleeve Dress (on sale!) $29.90; Tights-Express $29.99; Shoes-B.P $69.50;  Lip Gloss-Urban Decay Shine in Guys love Betsy; Necklace-Oval Link Necklace Express $59.50

What are you all wearing to ring in the new year in style?

Winter Must-Haves Part 2

Well winter has gone into full force and I have literally been THIS close to taking a cab to the library it is so cold out...I decided to bare the cold and the wind was brutal.  My eyes were watering, my nose was running, and I was shaking head to toe.  My boogers literally FROZE and it took me a hot cup of hot chocolate to warm up.  Winter is pretty and all, and it's not Christmas without snow, but I really need to move somewhere warm.  Anyways, here is the rest of my winter must-haves!

6.  Beach Sexy Sunkissed Bronze Instant Tanner from Victoria's Secret
Getting an air brush tan every week can get really expensive, and tanning beds just aren't worth the risk for me.  This self tanner doesn't leave you smelling funky or make you the color of Snookie.  It gives you a light sunkissed tan just like it says.  It washes off after a few showers and if you miss a spot you can just put on more.  It's $12.00 and you can order it online or buy it straight from the store.

7.  Plush Blanket
I am OBSESSED with this blanket during winter.  It's so comfy and soft but I will warn you, you will NOT want to get out of bed in the morning.  It's a little pricey and most are around $50.00 but it's so worth it.  One of my roommates had taken mine from the family room where I was using it and had left it, and the next day it was gone.  I go in her room and there it is sitting on her bed!  Needless to say, it's an awesome blanket.

8.  Cute Winter/Fashion Scarf
Wearing a scarf not only keeps you warm, but also keeps you looking a little less miserable and a little more chic when your nose is a runnin' and your face is bright red.   I love "forever" scarves, as my friend calls them, or more formally known as "circle" scarves.  I love this leopard one from express.  You can wear it with neutral colors and a great pair of heeled boots to spice up any outfit.  You can also wear it over a peacoat to add an extra feminine touch.  This scarf is $30.00 from Express but you can find cheaper ones at a place like Target.

9.   Uggs
If you thought I wasn't going to mention these dinosaur boots you were sorely mistaken.  Although Ugg's make your feet look big and aren't the cutest boots out there, they are so warm and cozy.  I wear them around my house and when I have to go outside to class, run errands, etc.  There expensive and honestly don't do that great in the snow in regards to the suede staying nice, but if you take care of them they will last you a few years.  There expensive but keep your feetsies nice and toasty.  Jimmy Choo collaborated with Ugg brand and made a Jimmy Choo Ugg.  I personally think they look ridiculous and for $600.00 I would rather kiss Rosie O'Donnell but see for yourselves!
a)  Jimmy Choo $595.00

b)  Ugg Austrailia in tan $140.00
10.  Dark Nail polishAlthough I love pink's and oranges and other summer colors, I DIE for fall and winter colors.  O.P.I and Essie make the best quality nail polish colors that last at least a week or more.  I love the following colors for OPI:
Purples:  Siberian Nights, Midnight in Moscow, Lincoln Park after Dark (my go to color), We'll always have Paris, Black Cherry Chutney (new favorite!), Royal Rajah Ruby
Reds:  Sanguine, William tell me about OPI,
Blues:  Russian Navy

I hope you enjoyed my winter must haves!  Stay tuned for New Years Eve Dresses under $150.00!  Happy Holidays!

Winter Must-Haves Part 1

With the approaching cold weather one must be prepared for the dry skin, frizzy hair, chapped lips, and shivering body from head to toe!  Being from Chicago, cold, windy, freezing-your-little-butt-off weather is something us Chicagoans have grown accustomed to and make us pro's on products and warm-weather wear to fight the cold. Therefore, I give you my top winter must haves (Part 1)

1.  Nivea Kiss of Moisture Lip Care
This is seriously the most silky lip care I have ever used and when your out in the cold weather really shields your lips from becoming dry and chapped.  There's a shimmering one too but I like the normal one best.  Added bonus is that it's only $2.99 and for the feeling it leaves on your lips it's totally worth it.

2.  Northface Ear Gear
No one likes getting to school or work with hair that looks like you trekked through a blizzard.  I also am not a big fan of wearing hats...there itchy, mess up your hair, and sometimes don't even cover your ears which to me is the most important part.  Therefore, I love this Northface fleece head warmer.  It doesn't mess up your hair and just sits on top of your ears so that you can still come into the office or classroom looking fabulous.  Northface is a little pricier but this headband is only $18.00!  If your looking for a more heavy duty head warmer they also have one that shields the wind for about ten dollars more at most places.  I'll warn you ahead of time, it is more bulky and not as cute, but I tried it on and it was so warm and shielding that it was almost hard to hear anyone speak!

 3.  Crest White Strips, Classic
This won't protect you from the cold, but it will make your teeth as white as the wintery snow.  A lot of my friend's have asked me if these actually work, and the answer is YES!  For the price of $20ish dollars depending where you buy them from, these strips make your smile glow.  No one likes a butter mouth, and with these strips you get a glowing smile in just fourteen days.  There are many newer and more expensive versions of these strips by Crest, and I have tried most of them and didn't notice any more of an improvement than the Classic gives.  I would say that the results last for about 6ish months, and for $20.00 I think that it is totally worth it.

 4.  Love Potion #9 Leave in Conditioner by Sebastian
I looooove this hair product.  I have really long hair and In the winter everything gets all static-like and frizzy.  To combat this I put about a quarter sized amount (depends on how long your hair is) into my palm and comb it through my hair.  You don't have to rinse it out and it smells amazing.  It leaves your hair looking more shiny and feeling so soft.  I do it about twice a week, sometimes more if my hair is looking dry.  It retails at around $18.00 and is worth every penny.

5.  Aveda Exfoliant-Botanical Kinetics
This is a good everyday skin product that doesn't matter if you use during the summer or winter.  It exfoliates your skin without being too harsh.  Most exfoliates you can only use two to three times a week.  This exfoliater is gentle and you can use it everyday.  It leaves your skin feeling clean and fresh and cleanses your skin while simultaneously shrinking your pores.  You just take a cotton swab, pump a few squirts, and rub all over face.  It is pretty pricey, but definitely worth it.  Plus, it lasts you a long time.  I'm pretty sure they have smaller sizes and you can always ask for free samples when your at the aveda store, they usually are pretty leniant if you want to try it out first.

Thats it for part 1!  I hope you all are staying nice and cozy!  I'm going to make myself a big cup of hot chocolate and continue studying for finals, one week from now I'll be done with my last first semester of undergrad EVER!

I gotta fever...

And this fever does not involve the Beibs!  Although, I do have a fever for him as well, just sayin.  This fever is bloggy fever!  Although I should be studying for finals and being productive with my life and not simultaneously be watching the new episode of teen mom, I decided to create a blog instead!  My roommates always make fun of me for creeping on blogs but I love reading them and am borderline obsessed with reading all things celebrity, fashion, beauty, interior design, home decorating, must haves, etc!  They don't know what there missing out on and I predict within a week they will not only be creeping on my blog, but all of yours as well ;)  Here are said roommates:

Ashley, Natalie, Colleen, Melissa, and me on my 22nd birthday
We all live in an apartment in downtown Iowa City right by the University and I love it!  This group of girls have been my friends for many years and we all get along fabulously.  Speaking of the above picture, how cute is my birthday outfit?!  The dress is BCBG and I got it on sale for $52.00 at Macy's with a $20.00 off coupon (originally $188.00).  I love that it's a one shoulder, which made a comeback this summer and fall.  I paired it with nude peep toe Nine West heels that were $79.00, OPI Lincoln Park After Dark nail polish, a chunky black and gold ring from a boutique here in Iowa, and one gold thicker bangle.  The dress would look really cute if you put a skinny belt around the waist or if you wore it with tights and closed toe heels.  AnyIwishitwasmybirthdayagain....

I don't know the rules of this whole "blog" deal but I guess I should probably should start out by introducing myself to the blogosphere...is that what it's called...?  I'm new at this don't make fun!

My name is Hilary and I'm a 22-year-old college student at the University of Iowa.  I must mention that I was born and raised in the B-E-A-Utiful city of Chicago (hence the chi-town skyline in the background), and visit home as often as I can.  My parents live in the suburbs and my older sister Monica lives in the city so I spend a decent amount of time between both the suburbs and city.

I'm studying psychology here in good ole Iowa City and absolutely love it.  I decided just these past two years that I want to focus on kids, and hopefully will be attending grad. school to get my Ed.S in school psychology.  I am almost done with my first semester of senior year and it's def. a bittersweet feeling.  I am not ready to be a real person yet but I can't wait to move to Chicago and experience being a "real person" instead of a poor college student who has no responsibilities other than to go to school.  I definitely want to go to a grad. school in the city but have not decided which school yet.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated for all of you chi town psych majors :)

I have an amazing family that consists of my mom, dad, big sister, and blue eyed husky Roxy (and three cats that I snuck in during my highschool and college years that my parents didn't know about for several weeks...Iggy, Riva, and Rudi!)  I don't know where I would be without these people (and furbabies) and although they are slightly crazy unique, I wouldn't have it any other way. My big sister Monica is 26 and one of my best friends.  She is the first person who instilled in me a fashion sense but I will never admit that to her hehe.  Without her, my ass would never have found Limited Too, Zutopia, Wet Seal, Hollister, Contempo, 579, and all of the other cool kiddie stores!  My mom would gladly have dressed us in JcPenny's for the rest of our lives but thank god we convinced her otherwise.  Here's a picture of my family (minus stella and joe) visiting Iowa City for the Wisconsin tailgate on parent weekend.  I apologize in advance for my dad's slightly "special" face...he never can take a serious picture.
From Left to right:  Joe (friends dad), Sister Monica, Dad Bill, Stella (friends mom), and Bottom right is Mom Evey, and Me tailgating for parent weekend

Unfortunately the Hawkeyes lost to the Badgers by one stinkin' point during this game and didn't end up going to a huge bowl like last year (Orange Bowl) and instead are going to insight bowl, whatever that is.  I should probably also mention that I am obviously obsessed with the Hawkeye's seeing as that's my school's football team. While were on the topic of sports, I am a big cubs fan, I don't need you to tell me that they suck I already know this, but I will always have an undying love for them and will NEVER, I repeat NEVER be a Sox fan.    This goes for the Bears as well.  Don't you worry your little bloggy butts both teams will make a miraculous come back :)

On that note, I probably should finish my last assignment before finals week woo hoo!  I can't wait to make some bloggy friends and hope you guys enjoy reading my blog! I think it will mostly be about fashion, celebrities, beauty products, and my final days of college/beginning of grad school.  Wish me luck!
